Orthopaedic and Spinal Surgery

I was born in 1970 in the West Midlands.  My secondary education was at Queen Mary’s Grammar School in Walsall.  I graduated in Medicine and Surgery from Manchester in 1994 after completing a BSc in Immunology and Oncology.  I undertook basic surgical training in the Mersey region, and then moved to Shropshire for my higher specialist training in Trauma and Orthopaedics, based around Oswestry Orthopaedic Hospital.  I trained in Spinal Surgery under Stephen Eisenstein and David Jaffray at Oswestry, and completed a Spinal Fellowship under Professor Robert Fraser in Adelaide, Australia.

Today I live on the Isle of Man and work full time at Noble’s hospital.  I specialise in spinal disorders but also operate in most areas of orthopaedics and trauma.  I instruct on advanced trauma courses in the UK, and since 2011 I have been an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons.

I am married with 3 young children, and in my spare time I play classical piano (See here) and rock guitar.  I keep fit on a Concept II indoor rower.  I'm also studying mathematics with the Open University, and now have a first class honours degree.  MSc next.
